Verdor Cocuy is more than a spirit—it’s the best-kept secret in agave, crafted for those who seek the extraordinary. As the first to officially export Cocuy from Venezuela to the world, Verdor is made from 100% Green Agave (Agave Cocui Trelease), a rare variety found only in Venezuela’s semi-arid regions.

Since 1927, our factory has held License #1 for Cocuy production, carrying a rich history in a country where Cocuy was once outlawed, adding to its mystique and rarity. With a unique flavor profile, free of additives and crafted in limited small batches, each liter requires 37 pounds of agave, grown at least eight years before harvesting.

Led by generations of mastery, our Maestro Cocuyero, Cristóbal Sánchez—president of ASOPROCOCUY and signer of the IGP for Cocuy Larense—ensures every bottle reflects this rich legacy.

What is Verdor?

An ultra-premium agave liquor made with the finest Green Agave. Carefully crafted in Venezuela by the oldest Cocuy factory in the country, which has been producing cocuy since1927 and holds the No.1 license for its production. All our Green Agaves are harvested from the same 120+ year-old farm. Our 3rd generation Maestro Cocuyero uses ancestral tecniques, passed down through generations, to create a smooth and complex spirit that is a celebration of good taste, cultural heritage and passion.

What is Green Agave?

Agave Cocui Trelease (Green Agave) is a close relative to the Mexican Agaves. It grows in arid and semi-arid zones of Venezuela. It's handpicked before dawn, and then carried down the mountains by donkey. It was declared Venezuelan National Patrimony, due to its ethnographic links to the ancient native tribes in the northwest territories of Venezuela. It takes 7-8 years from planting stage to maturity. Approx.37lbs of Agave make 1 liter of Cocuy.

What is Cocuy?

Made with ancestral methods, it resembles a slightly less smokey Mezcal in flavor profile, due to the fact that our agaves are also cooked underground for 5-6 days. Smooth, complex, herbaceous and sweet. Outlawed to manufacture in Venezuela from1953 to the early 2000’s, it now has a government-issued I.G.P., and is still made by hand and in very low quantities. Considered to be medicinal in many rural local communities.
